Personality:On the outside, Keiko is the quiet, demure daughter that her father longed for. On the inside, she has quite vocal opinions that she is hesitant about voicing. Preferring solitude, this reflects itself in her difficulty to take orders. When it comes to something she is passionate about, she can be a little more like herself; more arrogant and more vocal.

Mother: Ayaka Suzuki: Born April 17, 1962 in Tokyo, Japan. Ayaka is a housewife, with the same sort of quiet, yet passive-aggressive demeanour as Keiko. She is a housewife, though she frequently dotes on Keiko and takes trips with her.
Father: Takeshi Mizushima: Born February 4, 1954 in Tokyo, Japan. A conservative politician; he previously ran for a seat in the House of Representatives, but lost. He is very strict and is, by all means, the head of the household. Despite this, he does occasionally dote on his daughter, and is quite proud of her even if he doesn’t always say it.
Grandmother: Kiyoko Suzuki (née Takahashi): Born February 16, 1936 in Tokyo, Japan. A conservative woman, Kiyoko is a constant presence within the household. Having lived there since 1999, when her husband died, she is quite influential on the family in various small ways.

Background
Keiko was the only child of Takeshi Mizushima, a conservative government official, and his wife Ayaka. She was reared to be a respectful, presentable child that Takeshi could show in public to boost his image. She attended public elementary school, but upon hitting Junior High, transferred to the Joshibi School of Art and Design, where she began to focus on creating things, something she found she enjoyed doing.

When she was thirteen, her uncle Ichiro, a manager for several young idols, made the suggestion that she too become an idol. Takeshi was immediately opposed to the idea. Ichiro was irritatingly persistent though, and, to please him, she spent a brief period of time in a small movie starring several of his idols. She found the long days frustrating, not dealing well with it, and decided that was not the route she wanted to take at the moment. Still, to this day, he has persisted.

Near the end of 1999, her grandmother moved in with them, forcing Keiko to abandon her old room and take up residence in the guest room. She was pushy like her son, pushing Keiko to do even better at school in a “real” subject; the notion of her becoming a doctor or lawyer was brought up too frequently for Keiko’s liking. Takeshi, to her relief, put his foot down again, letting Keiko do what she liked. She was pleased.

School went by well enough; she made several friends and enjoyed the focus on art the school provided. Although she was not an exceptional student, she did well, and soon she finished high school. Keiko enjoyed travelling, and the subject of studying abroad had come up several times previously, so she decided to take the opportunity while she could. Her father, having studied in England himself, thought the experience might be good for her, and agreed to assist her in finding and paying for university.

She did not get into the first initial schools of her choice, but found that she was accepted to one university, Western Ontario, which was a relief to her. She is slightly apprehensive of living on her own, but on the whole is looking forward to it.
