Family Statistics
Mother: Elisabeth Elaine Forchien: Born July 25, 1962 in Québec City, Quebec. Elisabeth is a woman who does not like to confront her problems, but even she was forced to confront her crumbling marriage. She divorced René when Julia was nine, leaving René in Quebec City and taking the children with her. She later remarried a man she’d met while taking night classes, and moved to Ontario with him when Julia was twelve. She currently works as a freelance illustrator.
Father: René Louis Béliveau: Born March 2, 1960 in Montréal, Quebec. René is a rather weak-willed man and not good at making decisions. He cares for his two daughters but doesn’t want to go to court over it, feeling that they are best left with their mother. He writes often, but Julia doesn’t really care for him, thinking if he’d really wanted her back he would have fought.
Stepfather: Gregory Vlachos: Born April 5, 1958 in London, Ontario. Gregory is very much in love with Elisabeth, and he gets along well with her two children. He is a family physician and often works long hours. Julia likes him, as he and she share many views.
Sibling(s): Olivie Hannah Béliveau: Born December 23, 1988 in Québec City, Quebec. Olivie is a polite, book-smart girl, but slightly ditzy otherwise. She is very much into what Julia dismisses as “quackery” and last year declared herself a “witch”. Julia, predictably, does not get along well with her, and tries to ignore her.
Penelope Vlachos: Born February 18, 1987 in London, Ontario. Penelope is a loud girl, one who wants to grab the spotlight for herself. That isn’t to say she’s mean; she’s quite friendly and Julia gets along moderately well with her. She enjoys the arts, specifically theatre, and is frequently trying to get Julia interested in it.
Background
Julia was born to parents who had somewhat rushed into marriage – they had met while working for the same publishing house and hit it off immediately. But, nevertheless, they were delighted and often doted on Julia when she was younger. A sister was born not too long after and for a while they were happy.
Things only started to fall apart when Julia started school; with more time together her parents began to see each others’ inadequacies and found themselves unable to deal. They tried to stay together “for the children” but eventually divorced, with Elisabeth being granted sole custody. René didn’t even try and fight the courts. Elisabeth, wanting a fresh start, moved to Montréal and took the girls with her.
Julia wasn’t too disturbed by the whole incident, as there wasn’t much fighting or yelling, but she didn’t like being pulled out of Québec City, away from her friends. Still, with no other alternative, she was forced to cope. She made some friends while in Montréal, and found herself picking up more English, much more than what she learned in class.
Elisabeth met Gregory Vlachos when Julia was ten, and at first she wasn’t too comfortable around him, but Gregory quickly proved himself worthy of Julia’s interest; he had similar views as her and often encouraged her in whatever she decided to pursue. Even Olivie, who was very much the opposite of Gregory, got along with him. Julia was pleased when her mother married this man, two years later, though she found herself unsettled as no longer being the oldest, that title going to Gregory’s daughter Penelope, who was only months older.
There was a brief battle around this time; Gregory asked the girls if they would like to take his surname; Elisabeth was opposed to it, not used to changing surnames, and so the two talked it out for a bit. In the end Julia chose to retain her original surname for simplicity’s sake, but that didn’t prevent Gregory from treating the girls like his own children. They moved to Ontario just prior to Julia starting secondary school, as Gregory had been offered a job there.
Since then Julia managed to survive. She started high school not long after, and with a decent grasp of English, was able to pull through. She is content with her life at the present moment, and is looking to return to Quebec for university.
Soldier Statistics
Name: Demeter
Colours: Golden brown, khaki, green, red, and gold
Weaponry: A hand-held sickle as well as a satchel of poppy seeds
Attacks: Weak Flower: This attack causes flowers to bloom around the intended target. The method of attack is twofold: the sharp petals of the flowers slash at the target, while the flowers themselves drain the target of power, leaving them weak. It can kill monsters but on the whole, the strength of the attack is limited by Demeter’s willpower.
Unnamed Attack I: With this attack, Demeter scatters the seeds she carries in her satchel; effects vary, but the “default” setting is one of disorientation and dizziness. She can also cause sleep, a light trance state, or possibly something more drastic as draining energy; all of this is dependant upon her willpower and focus. This cannot destroy monsters, only distract.
Unnamed Attack II: Demeter may also use her sickle to attack; at her current skill level she may only use it as a standard weapon (that is, with no extra magical abilities).
Other:
- Although born and raised Roman Catholic, she calls herself agnostic (but her beliefs might lean closer to atheism)
- Attends Davenport Secondary School
